Magdalene Urban Orchard

Magdalene fruit orchard has been lovingly planted by children from Brunstane Primary School and local volunteers as part of a community effort to enrich the greenspaces of Magdalene. Through planting orchards in local green corners, the children have learned how fruit trees grow, how to care for them, and how orchards support wildlife, biodiversity, and the wider environment.
These orchards are a shared space for the whole community to enjoy, now and for generations to come.
Please Help This Orchard Thrive

Wassailing
When the trees were planted, the children took part in “Wassailing”, a ritual to encourage a healthy and bountiful harvest. Traditionally, people would sing to the trees to wish them strength, good health, and heavy crops for the seasons to come.
“Oh apple, apple tree,
We have come to wassail thee
Will you bear some fruit for me?
When the season changes”
